The Art of Customization

25 Sep

Personalizing your things is fun – not only does it make it discernible from everyone else’s, it also adds a little personal touch to your whatever it is you are personalizing. I don’t do it all that often unfortunately. I’m afraid I will make a choice and then not  like it afterwards, so I really think about what I’m planning before I do it.

One customization I knew I was going to have to make is to the cover of my new blue 3DS XL. With such a large area to work with, and the cuteness of handhelds in general makes it the perfect canvas for some decoration!

Geekmates Cheapskates: Free Comics?!

12 Sep

A love for comics can be an expensive one, especially considering some comic storylines span decades and have countless spinoffs. Figuring out where you want to start and how much you’ll like a series shouldn’t have to cost a lot, but if you are buying a comic here and there to try them out, it can be! I don’t like to spend money if I don’t have to, so I’ve come up with some ideas to help you get your feet wet in comics without breaking the bank!

you’ll be swimming in all the savings!

Greyman review

10 Sep

I’m always on the lookout for new comics to read, and recently came across one on Amazon that got me a little excited – the writer is a friend of mine! Glenn and I both took archaeology courses together a few years back, and when I came across his comic I was very excited for him. He is one of the ambitious few who make a life change and follow a true passion, and I couldn’t be happier for him!

Taking advantage of my connection I sent him a message and asked if I could get it directly from him so I could blog about it, and he did me one better – a digital copy! Paper copy is en route however, as you know I love to hold things in my hands, fan the pages, and add to my collection!

another iPad justification – yesssss

on a serious note …

7 Sep

I hate drama, and I hate seriousness, but I think this is important … we will return to our regularly geeky posts next week.

The thing I love most about the gaming community is how supportive everyone is of each other. We all reblog, promote, like, RT, share and comment on everything, because we know that more being involved with everyone will only help the community grow. It’s not about competition, it’s about involvement. Because of this, I share my blog on Facebook and Twitter, in Facebook groups, and in turn share what other people are doing too. I love to see what people are doing around me and sharing it with my followers!

Today, however, I got a taste of the not so supportive side of the community. I don’t get fussy over the “girl gamer” title. I don’t call my guy friends “guy gamers” because we’re all just gamers. But sometimes things happen where I want the “girl gamer” community to bolster together, because we are targeted for the fact that we have vaginas. Today is an example of that.

Geekmates Geek Dates – Comics and Coffee

6 Sep

Tony and I are both VERY busy people. We both work, we both are studying for graduate degrees, and we both spend a lot of time running websites (Tony also has a site called bboyscience.com!) – so when we have a chance to hang out and have a date we like to indulge in our love for each other and our love for all the geeky things!

we super love each other <3

Coming up with ideas is really fun, and we always find ways to incorporate our different focuses together in a cute way so that we both enjoy ourselves. We decided that we would share all of our date ideas with you guys, in a new series called “Geekmates Geek Dates”! Hope you enjoy!
