The PVP Podcast Episode 44 – The Problem With Mages

25 Nov

IT’S DRAGON AGE WEEK! FINALLY!

The last couple weeks we have done some things – played Epic Yarn, watched weird made for TV movies about eating lots of pears, got fussy on Tomb Raider, and Sarah had an – interesting – story about HalCon (to say the least). BUT most importantly, Rae joins us to talk about part 1 of our Dragon Age discussion! This week we focused on the position of mages in the Dragon Age universe – and it’s a good one!

The PVP Podcast Episode 43 – Dumbo Wumbos

10 Nov

Let’s just all hold hands and pretend that it hasn’t been like 5 weeks since we put up a podcast. Cool? Cool.

That’s why we love you guys.

In this episode Dave and I have a whole bunch to talk about! A game Sarah contributed to was nominated for Canadian Video Game Awards (holy shitsnacks!), Dragon Age and more mistakes, Dave’s excitement over new booksies, Destiny, cool new Sony features, The Mary Sue, an upcoming con, and the crazy amount of money that November will cost. We also talk about Extra Life 2014! What games we played, how much was raised, and especially a whole bunch of stuff about how amazing the support we got was!

Extra Life 2014!

16 Oct

It’s that time of year again!

For the third year in a row, The Geekmates will be playing games for charity as a part of Extra Life!

What’s Extra Life you ask? Well, let me explain!

Our team is on a mission to save kids through video games, and we need your help. Each of us has chosen our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital where thousands of children are treated each year, regardless of their family’s ability to pay. These kids are facing scary stuff like cancer, cystic fibrosis, and injuries from accidents to name just a few.

On October 25th, 2014, we’ll be part of a huge international celebration of the social impact of gamers with Extra Life and it’s our sincere hope that you’ll find it in your heart to support us with a monthly pledge or one-time gift that will go directly to that team member’s chosen hospital.Your donation is tax-deductible and ALL PROCEEDS go to help kids.Last year, Extra Life raised more than 4 million dollars to save kids, but in 2014 our goals, just like the needs of the kids we serve, are much, much higher. We can’t do this without your help. Donating online is safe and easy!

Last year we managed to raise aver 1800.00 as a team, and we need your help to do it – so please, donate and help some sick kids! Every little bit counts!

You can find our pages here: Sarah, Dave, and Matt!

We will also be livestreaming the ENTIRE 24 hours at twitch.tv/geekmates, so check in on us, cheer us on, and keep up awake!

Until next time!

The PVP Podcast Episode 41 – Esports Are the Pyjamas of Pants

12 Sep

I’m uploading late once again but I have excuses. I blame Destiny. And also laziness. This week Dave talks about guiltless gaming, upcoming travels, new steampunk campaigns, and getting back into WoW, and Sarah goes on and on and on about Fan Expo and crying over Nathan Fillion. We also talk about whether or not pyjamas are pants, and Esports!

So many exciting things!

The PVP Podcast Episode 40 – You Can’t Put Your K/D Ratio On Your CV

26 Aug

The Super Best Friends are all together for the first time! Tony and Rae join Sarah and Dave to talk about really cool things! We discuss the biological possibilities of a cure in The Last of Us, cane toads, PhD’s, being destroyed by 12 year olds, finishing awakening, the super sexist guilty pleasure that is Hakuoki, dancing Groot, Tomadachi scandal, and the un-nervingness of P.T.

We also talk about the new Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Editon (and Dave and Sarah break out some sweet Deckard Cain impersonations) and how we are staying friends while ever so far apart.
