I try to be charitable, and I like to participate in fundraisers whenever I can. Over the past couple years I have been a part of the 24 hour Relay for Life for the Canadian Cancer Society and the Run for the Cure for the Canadian Breast Cancer Association. These are not only fun events, but also support research and help my honor the memory of both of my grandfathers, who passed away from cancer. So I am very excited for another fundraising event I am participating in this weekend – Extra Life!
You can find their whole story here, but Extra Life is a 24 hour gaming marathon that fundraises money to help sick children by donating all the proceeds to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital of your choice. Their logo is “Play Games. Heal Kids” and I couldn’t think of anything that I would want to support more! The idea is simple – play alone, or form a team, and play games for 24 hours. How could I NOT sign up?!
I formed a team with Radio Playstation, and chose to support the Janeway Children’s Hospital, which is the local hospital here in St. John’s, and one that has helped a bunch of the kids I work with. We will be planning our schedule soon, but I need your help!
1. PLEASE donate! Anything helps – even as small as 1.00 an hour, or a small lump sum of 5.00 or 10.00 will make a difference in a kid’s life. You can donate online on my fundraising page HERE : )
2. Suggest some games! We will most likely be streaming most of the multiplayer gameplay through the Radio Playstation Twitch channel, so you can watch and listen to what we are up to!
Some of the games I have include:
Dance Central 2/3
Final Fantasy XIII/XIII-2
Gotham City Imposters*
LEGO Harry Potter Years 5-7
Little Big Planet 1*/2*
Mass Effect 3*
Tales of Graces F
The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess/Skyward Sword
* An asterisk shows games that the team could stream
Let me know what you’d like to see, and if we play it we can give you a shoutout! I’ll be stocking up on snacks and Red Bull for this – I hope you can tune into the stream, and can help support some sick kids in need!
Until next time!
